Small Pin. Serious Strength. Meet the SRP.

When you think about your caravan’s towing setup, a breakaway switch pin probably isn’t the first component that comes to mind. But this small part has an important job.
At RV Electronics, we believe the details deserve attention. Introducing our Steel Reinforced Polymer (SRP) pin, featuring stainless steel reinforcement along the entire length of the pin.
A small component with an important role
The breakaway switch pin is a component in the breakaway switch that is responsible for triggering the brakes in an accidental breakaway. If the trailer separates from the towing vehicle and the coil cable pulls the pin from the switch, which then activates the system.
It’s a simple sequence with an important purpose - and one that makes the condition and correct fit of your breakaway components worth checking.
What makes the SRP different?
The SRP combines polymer construction with a full-length stainless steel chassis, providing integral support throughout the pin.
That means the reinforcement extends right through the component, bringing a considered approach to the construction of this small but important part of your breakaway setup.
An upgrade for your Breaksafe switch
The SRP is a direct replacement for the existing pin in an RV Electronics Breaksafe breakaway switch.
For owners with one of our Breaksafe Switches, it is straightforward swap to introduce full-length stainless steel reinforcement into their existing setup.
